Project Management Advice & Commissioning

ModuSpec has recently provided project management assistance during a new-build land rig project in Norway for a drilling contractor. This drilling unit is of a unique design. It has its hoisting facilities permanently installed as a part of the mast. The mast contains an adjustable work basket, a travelling rotary table and BOP, all permanently mounted. This enables the rig to go from drilling to workover and snubbing operations in only seconds, without any modification to the rig.

ModuSpec has provided project management advice and acted as an intermediary between the parties involved to reach mutually accepted agreements and solutions.

By means of commissioning, a quality assurance and control system was provided for the manufacture, installation and hook-up of capital equipment and systems.

The ModuSpec Commissioning service has ensured that systems and equipment on this land rig:

• were installed with proper certification
• were regularly inspected during manuacture and installation
• were appropriately function-tested and load-tested
• could be warranted by the yard for their functioning during the rig's drilling operations
