Our independent third-party verification ensures that the well control equipment complies with the relevant regulations, e.g. US Well Control Regulations 30 CFR § 250, standards and customer specific requirements.
In the US, the WCV is required by 30 CFR § 250 to be submitted by the operator in their Application for Permit to Drill (APD) or Application for Permit to Modify (APM) submitted on a per well basis for every well on the continental shelf of the US before commencing drilling or intervention operational activity.
By utilising surveyors on location and office technical support, this entails:
- Verifying equipment condition and between well maintenance is performed and documented in compliance with standards and regulations.
- Verifying that testing is performed in compliance with standards and regulations.
- Reviewing shear verifications.
- Providing daily reports which have been tech reviewed by subject matter experts.
- Performing accumulator calculations and verifying capacities.
- Reviewing fluid compatibility with BOP equipment.
- Reviewing environmental conditions such as temperature and H2S.
- Issuing a final report capturing all documentation.
After satisfactory review of BOP condition, maintenance, testing, shear verification, fluid and environmental compatibility and accumulator volume, a signed WCV letter is provided for distribution by the operator in support of the well operations.
